Green Somali Initiatives uses participatory approaches implemented by the Somali Community Green field Schools (CGFS) and Somali Educational Institutions clubs and societies, where communities undertake and own coordinated S I Environmental and Climate Change Strategic Initiatives.

The Strategic Initiatives Interventions result into Sustainable and Circular Environmental Conservation, Climate Change mitigation and Natural Resource Management, Assurance of food security, Somalia Government policy support and contribution dialogue and advocacy and, Social Inclusion and Integration through Peace building, Ethical and Moral uprightness.

To Achieve Sustainable Green Somali Federal States, we have to Go Green and Keep it Green, as a result, Somali Green Initiatives has 3 Green Components which include:

1) Climate change Mitigation, Environmental Conservation, Peace and Sustainable Livelihoods Services/Products

2) Participatory research, Capacity Building and Training on Conservation, Peace and Sustainable Livelihoods and

3) Participatory Green Research, policy interpretation, and contribution to Somali Directorate of Environment and Climate change

Historique

Green Somali Initiative was founded in Somalia, Africa with a focus of implementing practical hands-on community driven projects aimed at greening the County States of FGS. The Green Somali Initiative is a non-for profit organization that strives to achieve Environmental Conservation, Health, Peace and justice and, improved Livelihoods for Federal Government of Somalia States. This is executed through locally-led approaches i.e. Afforestation, Plastic recycling, Community sensitization and environmental awareness. Green Somali Initiative has its headquarters in County Government of Mogadishu and other FGS Member States and Regions, Somalia.

Objectifs

To develop strategiesand capacities among the local communities to engage in sustainable soil and water conservation through tree Nursery Establishment, Indigenous
Tree planting in schools, Government Institutions in Somalia for climate change adaptation

To promote Hygiene a n d Sanitation in Somalia's schools,
Government Institutions through waste management including handling and clean-up, monitoring, contain men

To develop capacities and technologies among the project communities to effectively, participate in income generating opportunities and livelihood options through promotion of Green Enterprises that reduce pressure on utilization of the area natural resources.


To Influence skills and knowledge through environmental education and awareness in Primary and Secondary schools, Universities in Somalia and generally and concurrently set practical examples of how the Environment can be sustainable.
