SustyVibes initially begun as a sustainability blog by our founder, Jennifer Uchendu in 2016.
We have now evolved into an organisation that inspires young people to act on key
environmental issues to create a world we want through simple, creative ideas.
Our vision is to build a platform for young people to believe in their abilities to transform our world.

In 2020, we launched the Communitrees project, a community-based tree planting and climate advocacy project aimed at highlighting the effectiveness of nature-based solutions such as tree planting in mitigating climate change. The pioneer project ran from November 2020 to April 2021, and planted 5,000 trees in Abuja and Lagos. This project ran alongside an advocacy
drive among community members. We planted indigenous trees in selected communities across Abuja and Lagos while stimulating both online and physical conversations on the pivotal role of tree planting in climate action.
The communitrees project has planted over 5000 indigenous trees in Nigeria working with local communities.
The communitrees project focused on a two-phased community-based approach - Advocacy and Tree Planting. We usually conduct a series of advocacy engagements with the community members aimed at increasing the knowledge of climate change and providing training on tree planting techniques. The process of tree planting involves a holistic approach, including the selection of indigenous seedlings and possible planting locations, the identification of community members who will take ownership of the tree-planting project and the planting process proper.
Our overall objectives include:
1. Restore natural vegetation by mobilizing residents in Abuja and Lagos to plant trees in their communities
2. Sensitize communities on climate change and help them identify local solutions effective in mitigating its effects
